MSF mourns the death of Hussein Alnajjar, thirteenth colleague killed in Gaza
In 1 click, help us spread this information :
Hussein Alnajjar died on September 16 in Gaza from shrapnel wounds sustained during an Israeli airstrike near his tent five days earlier. Hussein's sister-in-law and nephew were also injured in the same incident.
This is not a tragic accident; it is yet another demonstration that there is no safe haven in the Gaza Strip.
Orphaned and growing up without a father, Hussein was the eldest of four brothers and a source of strength and support for his family. A dedicated nurse, he has been working for MSF in our clinics in Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis since January 2024. He previously worked alongside MSF teams as a sterilization technician in a limb reconstruction project at Al-Awda Hospital.
Hussein was passionate and loved life. Married with three young children, he eagerly awaited the opportunity to see his brother, whom he supported financially, finally graduate from medical school in Egypt.

Hussein is the thirteenth MSF colleague killed since the start of the war in Gaza. We are outraged that military violence continues to kill our Palestinian colleagues.
We strongly condemn his assassination and once again call for the immediate restoration of the ceasefire and the protection of civilians.
At this tragic time, our thoughts are with Hussein's wife, his children, and all his family and friends who are grieving his loss.
This bloodshed must stop.
