21 classes taking part in our ‘Call to Action: Humanitarian Awakening 2025–2026’ initiative, focusing on young people living with HIV

For this edition, 119 students from six Luxembourg schools across the Grand Duchy signed up to participate in the Call to Action (R)éveil Humanitaire launched by the Luxembourg section of Médecins Sans Frontières in June 2025.

From October to December, they all attended a presentation by MSF Luxembourg on the theme of this year’s challenge: young people living with HIV. During this time, they also had the opportunity to discuss what makes an ‘impactful’ awareness-raising campaign, and were provided with resources to help them devise and design a relevant campaign project.

The classes submitted their campaign proposals to the judging panel at the end of 2025. The judging panel received 21 proposals and shortlisted six of them in early January 2026:

• Lycée Edward Steichen Clervaux : « VIH & Jeunes : S’informer pour se protéger » & « Testé·e, c’est assurer »
• Lycée Michel Rodange Luxembourg : "Just use it"
• EIMAB : « Jeunes informés, jeunes protégés »
• Lycée Fieldgen : "Protect to Respect"
• Lycée Classique de Diekirch : « Lutte contre le VIH: Ensemble pour la santé. »

At the end of February 2026, the groups presented their full campaign proposals to a panel comprising MSF staff and volunteers, who are experts in infectious diseases, education and advocacy. Each group presented their campaign proposal and answered questions from the panel. The discussions focused on key topics, such as the stigma faced by people living with HIV, prevention, the most vulnerable groups, and the role of schools and peers in accessing health information.

Following deliberations, the jury selected three finalist projects: the two projects from the Lycée Edward Steichen Clervaux and the project from the Lycée Classique de Diekirch.

These groups were able to refine their campaigns based on the feedback provided by the judging panel before they were officially launched to the target audiences identified by the pupils in March. The judging panel met again in May to assess the final versions of each campaign and analyse their impact.

The closing ceremony, held on 11 May, saw the winning group – Class Clija-1 from the Lycée Classique de Diekirch – receive their prize: the opportunity to take part in a tour of MSF Supply, MSF’s supply centre in Brussels.

The visit to MSF Supply took place in early July. Pupils from Class Clija-1 at the Lycée Classique de Diekirch were given a behind-the-scenes look at the process of delivering medicines, medical equipment and logistical supplies, which are essential to MSF’s operations around the world.

"Fighting HIV: Together for Health", the winning group’s campaign, is on display at the Musée national de la Résistance et des Droits Humains in Esch-sur-Alzette.
