International Activity Report 2023

Conflict was one of the main causes of suffering and vulnerability in 2023, causing thousands of deaths worldwide and displacing a record number of people. As in previous years, helping communities affected by violence was an important component of MSF's programmes. We also responded to disasters and epidemics, and worked to improve care for refugees, people on the move and marginalised people.

In 2023, your support was invaluable, because it alone enabled us to take action.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the more than 69,000 MSF staff, who worked in over 70 countries in 2023 – often at great risk – to deliver medical care to people in need.

In 2023, as the world was once again shaken by devastating natural disasters and brutal wars, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) worked to support people in need of medical care and basic services.

Our transparency

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is a private, independent, non-profit international organisation. It includes 24 main national offices as defined in the statutes of MSF International, as well as eight specialised organisations which are assigned specific missions useful to the MSF movement and/or its entities, such as the supply of humanitarian aid, epidemiological and medical research, fundraising, infrastructure management and research into social and humanitarian commitment. These entities are managed by MSF.

This is why their activities are included in the MSF International Financial Report. These figures present the consolidated state of MSF's finances at international level for 2023.

Acting and bearing witness is what we do tirelessly and independently to perpetuate the values of MSF here in Luxembourg. In 2024, we will continue to defend MSF's positions on issues that are close to our hearts: migration, so as not to criminalise those who have been forced to flee their countries; access to healthcare, with vaccines and treatments accessible to as many people as possible throughout the world; and, more broadly, the defence of international humanitarian law, so that our teams can continue to help all those in need, wherever they may be.
