The night of the 27th of September, a series of explosions and bombings shook densely populated areas in southern Beirut, Lebanon. The situation is chaotic. Thousands of people, including teams from Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), had to flee their homes in the dark and with nothing; some on foot. Many remain stranded in their cars.
The situation is desperate, and MSF teams are working tirelessly in the city, distributing water, hygiene kits, and blankets. Thousands of people are fleeing. More than 500 schools are full. People are sleeping in their cars on the streets, and hospitals are overwhelmed with the injured.
So far, MSF teams have distributed 400 essential item kits in shelters, including hygiene materials and mattresses. Organization teams are also providing water and offering psychological first aid. MSF continues to assess needs and provide assistance.
As the Israeli bombardment campaign of Lebanon continues, MSF reiterates its call that civilians and healthcare workers must be protected.
