Every year, Esch-sur-Alzette is transformed for the Nuit de la Culture . More than just an artistic event, it is an invitation to rediscover the city from a different perspective. Shows, installations and performances pop up in everyday locations such as streets, parks, balconies, gardens and schools, turning public spaces into lively stages open to all.
The nuit de la culture aims to build bridges between residents, local artists, cultural partners and visitors. It is designed to surprise, arouse curiosity and encourage encounters, combining a variety of artistic disciplines and themes that change every year.
What would you carry with you ? / Et vous, qu’emporteriez-vous ? – an installation that gives a voice to exiles
For this edition, themed ‘Vertigo of Love,’ Médecins Sans Frontières, in collaboration with Kamellebuttek and Mo Salazars presents the exhibition « What would you carry with you ? / Et vous, qu’emporteriez-vous ? » This photographic and audio project offers an immersion into the migration journeys of people rescued by MSF in the Mediterranean.
When you have to leave everything behind in a hurry – your home, your country, your bearings – what is the one thing you decide to take with you? Through the testimonies of Dilba, Precious, Hamid and others, the public discovers that these precious possessions are not so much valuable for their materiality as for what they represent: a memory, a source of strength, a link to their identity or their loved ones.
This exhibition invites everyone to ask themselves: what would you take with you?
For this edition, themed “Vertigo of Love”, Médecins Sans Frontières, in collaboration with Kamellebuttek and Mo Salazar, presents the exhibition “What would you carry with you? / et vous qu'emporteriez-vous ?”.
This photographic and sound project offers an immersive journey into the migration stories of people rescued by MSF in the Mediterranean aboard the Geo Barents.
Through an immersive labyrinth, visitors are invited to walk among photographs, written testimonies, and audio narratives, unveiling the intimate stories and choices of those forced to flee.
When you have to leave everything behind : your home, your country, your landmarks, what is the one object you choose to take?
The stories of Dilba, Precious, Hamid, and others show that these precious belongings hold little material value but rather a deep symbolic meaning: a memory, a source of strength, a link to their identity or their loved ones.
Beyond the exhibition, this artistic collaboration seeks to open a dialogue with the public, foster empathy, and shed light on the reality of migration routes across the Mediterranean.
And you, what would you carry with you?
