In 1 click, help us spread this information :

MSF is in close contact with the Libyan Red Crescent, that is the main aid actor at the moment in Derna, and will procede to donations of items that are urgently needed:

  • 400 body bags for the deceased;
  • 200 medical kits to treat the wounded (dressing kits: disinfectants, compresses, sutures, bandages...);
  • and casualty care kits for 250 patients (gloves, antibiotics, dressing, surgical masks, …).
  • According to our information and observations, local solidarity has already kicked in as usual in this kind of disaster.

Given the scale of the disaster, we expect medical facilities to have been damaged and needs in restoring access to care for those who remain on site or those displaced by the disaster, who are 30,000 according to initial estimates.

Testimony of Matthieu Chantrelle, MSF Deputy cell manager Libya:

How to donate to respond to the immediate needs of people stricken by natural disasters:

The Emergency Fund enables MSF to quickly respond to the immediate needs of those affected by the floods in Lybia. 85% of the money goes straight to the field and MSF is audited every year by an independent, authorised body.
