Workshop for Schools at the Lëtzebuerg City Bibliothèque: All aboard the Humanity Ship
In partnership with the Lëtzebuerg City Library, MSF Luxembourg is organising two “All aboard the Humanity Ship” workshops from 9.00 am to 11.00 am on 28 and 29 October 2026 for Cycle 4 pupils.
What does it mean to be human? What are the common values that we live by, in our daily actions, in MSF’s medical work, in fiction?
During this workshop, pupils will learn about MSF’s work and reflect on the question ‘What is humanity?’. MSF teams will be on hand to present our work, our vision of humanity and the shared values we have in common with another doctor whose life’s mission is to ‘cure everyone around the world’: our official supporter, Tony Tony Chopper from One Piece. Through photographs, a geography game and a discussion about Tony Tony Chopper, they will be invited to reflect on solidarity, humanity and the people or characters who inspire them.
Pupils will have the opportunity to discuss the following topics:
- On 28 October, with the MSF Luxembourg teams
- On 29 October, with a special guest appearance by Dr Javid Abdelmoneim, International President of MSF

Photo-language activity: ‘What is humanity?’
Following a brief presentation on the organisation Médecins sans Frontières, its activities and the contexts in which it operates, the pupils will take part in a photo-language activity. Photographs taken during various MSF projects will be displayed in the room. The pupils will be able to look at them and then choose the one that resonates with them the most. They will then be able to explain their choice and share what the photograph brings to mind in relation to the theme ‘What is humanity?’.
MSF Guessr and the Square Map
Using other photos taken in the countries where MSF operates, pupils will have to guess where they were taken and locate them on the ‘Square Map’, a project by the Nuées association. This planisphere challenges the Mercator projection and offers a representation that is more faithful to the actual sizes of the countries. Pupils can then colour in the map and write, in French, English or the country’s native language, the names of the countries they identified during the MSF Guessr activity.

A discussion about MSF and Chopper

Pupils will then have the chance to meet our official supporter, Tony Tony Chopper from One Piece. Through a discussion on humanity and solidarity, pupils will be able to share examples from fiction or their everyday lives and reflect on what these values mean to them. They will also reflect on the concept of heroes and heroines, the people and characters who inspire them, and the influence these may have on their choices. MSF facilitators will guide the discussions and, where appropriate, draw parallels with the shared values of One Piece and MSF.
