Your sporting performance can be part of an even greater challenge: preventing women from dying during childbirth
Combine your race with the MSF Solidarity Challenge and raise at least 200 euros to
support our maternity hospital in Khost, Afghanistan!
For several decades, Afghan women have not had access to education, which has led to a lack of trained female staff to care for women during childbirth. Yet, many families ask to be treated by a purely female medical team because of cultural norms surrounding gender. This dilemma is one of the reasons why nearly two-thirds of babies are born at home without medical assistance.
All MSF projects in Afghanistan focus on training female staff. By strengthening their skills, MSF ensures that its projects best meet the needs of women.
